How is my carbon footprint computed?
A:
Your carbon footprint is computed by taking the amount of electricity you consume, the amount of heating oil you use and the amount of automotive fuel you use. Each of these has a known carbon emissions rate. Ideally this would be taken by adding up a total year of usage, but we understand that some people may not have access to all of their historic bills. In such cases we take one months usage and multiply by 13 to allow for unknown fluctuations in usage.

How are my offsets calculated?
A:
Offsets are sold in 20 ton increments. We take your carbon footprint rounded up to the nearest whole ton and that represents the number of offsets you will need to buy.

How many electric vehicles will I help sponsor?
A:
We calculate that 1 of the trikes we replace is responsible for as much as 20 tons over a 10 year period. In addition to that 1 trike releases 12+ tons of air pollutants contributing to smog, toxic air and acid rain.
Q:
What kind of guarantees do i have that the trikes will be built and used?
A:
GroPower will issue you a certificate for every 20 tons you purchase with the Trikes Chassis, motor and licence number clearly displayed. You will also be issued a photograph of your trike. The trikes themselves are offered to route operators for a low lease of less than $3.50 per month (yes that's per month!) and cost 20-40% less per day to operate them.

All the trikes we manufacture are insured against that eventuality

What else does GroPower do to help the communities they operate in?
A:
GroPower donates 3.5% of our annual profits into the communities we operate in. This could take the form of new medical equipment for a local hospital, a home for battered women, new computers for a school or university, or simply food for the hungry and poor.
